“Be good-looking and life is fun fun fun!”

As is often the case with matters pertaining to sexuality, I side with Andy Nowicki on the topic of incels, too. Some of their claims are legit, but there is a lot of unhealthy rhetoric.

On the one hand, there are those who call themselves — in today’s unfortunate pop culture lingo — “blackpilled”. They tend to think all life should revolve around chasing women and living in fornication. In other words, those who are either of a high intellectual calibre and produce works of genius, as well as those who feel a higher calling and become monks, nuns or priests are “coping”. After all, indulging in wicked, vulgar concupiscence is the only way to go!

As Kierkegaard once wrote — in his Journals, I think —: among a thousand men chasing skirts, often enough there isn’t even one who chases an idea.

This is a view that can only be rejected by anyone with higher tastes and standards. Even back as an atheist, I rejected the “dating” culture, finding it meaningless to live like in a marriage without the binding nature of being married. This is also rejected by F. Roger Devlin in his Sexual Utopia in Power. They are not looking for a wife to marry and have a family with, instead they crave the vulgar and deranged lifestyle of the loathsome PUA types, who should be thrown into the penitentiary, like in the old days when people still had decency and believed in morality, valuing good breeding.

Some even go so far as to claim that you only need “good looks” — an attractive face especially — and life is fine and dandy. Looks have an impact on how people treat you, it cannot be denied. It is part of our fallen world, superficial and taken to an extreme nowadays.

However, what use is attractiveness if you suffer from mental illness? There are good-looking people who are depressed, mentally ill, even committing suicide. At any rate, I think this to be another shallow and arrogant viewpoint that, however, fits perfectly into our age; an age that is degenerate and vulgar to an extreme degree and should be despised as strongly as possible.

I’d also say that mental illness is one of the worst afflictions one can suffer from, looks don’t change anything about it. Mental illness is so horrible that even married men and women can be driven to suicide.

It all boils down to the question of God and eternity. It is the most important question one can think of, and no one said it better than Hamlet: Or that the Everlasting had not fix’d His canon ’gainst self-slaughter!
For if you could prove that God did not exist, then instead of suffering six to eight decades in this world, we may just as well exit it at fourteen and be done with it, with this penal colony.

Nicolás Gómez Dávila could not bear the world he had to live in either:

Believe in God, trust in Christ, look with suspicion.

Modern drudgery does not make it more difficult to believe in God, but it does make it impossible to feel Him.

Good breeding seems like a fragrance from the 18th century that evaporated.

To be a Christian is to not be alone, no matter the solitude that surrounds us.

It is impossible to convince the fool that there are pleasures superior to those we share with the rest of the animals.

With somebody who is ignorant of certain books no discussion is possible.

The modern world will not be punished.
It is the punishment.

Solitude is so frightening nowadays that everyone prefers the heat of battle.
