You have infested my brain with views I abhor.

All the intellectual vulgarity one has read on the net over the years leaves a mark on one’s brain; it stains it. It is akin to puberty: childhood is over, our filthy origins are laid bare, innocence lost, suffering now awaits until the bitter end.

Of such nature is the intellectual vulgarity that they almost forced you to take account of. After all, I never had any interest in your repugnant worship of promiscuity; my interest lay in following politics. Especially getting a deeper understanding of the madness of the year 2015.

I do not think there is anyone who followed mainstream politics without having come into contact with the stench of the sex-obsessed.

Hollywood and our sleazy mainstream, our pop culture, is bad enough. The locker room talk we all are witnesses to was pretty shocking. As a recluse and outcast, I thought only the most depraved lived lives like that.

This naivity has been erased, it is gone. Instead, what has been added is a subtraction, a further subtraction of innocence, another reason to blow one’s brains out (if God did not forbid it).

One of the few fellow sufferers, Nicolás Gómez Dávila, notes:

A soul is cultured if in it the din of the living does not drown out the music of the dead.

The modern world will not be punished.
It is the punishment.

Intellectual vulgarity depresses me more than bad news.

Puritanism is the attitude that befits the decent man in the world today.

The people with whom we speak every day and our favorite authors cannot belong to the same zoological species.

Wisdom, in this century, consists above all in knowing how to put up with vulgarity without becoming upset.

Posterity is not going to understand what an achievement mere good sense is in this insane century.

We can resist the trivialization that is invading the world by resurrecting God as our rearguard.
